Who is Envirobank?

Envirobank is more than a machine: it is a movement. Conceived and driven by the passionate and determined Narelle Anderson.

Our view is that recycling alone may not save the planet, but if we are going to make the effort to do it, we should at least do it right. At Envirobank we are committed to helping you deliver on the promise of recycling.

Narelle Anderson - Managing Director

"Motivated and challenged by doing things that people say can never be done"

NarelleBorn: Sydney.
Likes: horse racing, singing songs with her son, watching her golden retriever swim and date night with her husband.
Dislikes: waiting in line, lateness, people who tell others they can't do things.

"I have founded Envirobank out of frustration: we are great recyclers at home, but when we leave the house we seem to forget all our good habits. We contaminate all the public place recycling bins which means it all ends up in landfill. I am committed to revolutionising public place recycling in Australia. My role is to inspire and motivate our clients, my team and the greater community to care and help us make a difference.

"I believe we must all act responsibly and leave the environment we live in a better place. It is best summed up in the poem Success, by Ralph Waldo Emerson; "I am motivated and challenged by doing things that people say can never be done"... and so, through Envirobank, I have embarked on a mission to change the way we recycle in public places."

Janine Lay-Flurrie - Creative Alliance Manager

"Through a collaborative approach we can move mountains"

janinelayflurrieBorn: in the psychadelic 70's, from sunny Bedfordshire in the UK.
Likes: horses and walking in the rain.
Dislikes: olives and people who beep their horns!

"I joined Envirobank to focus on marketing, sales and partnerships. As Creative Alliance Manager, I know how much relationships matter and that genuine partnerships require a creative and flexible approach.

"At Envirobank I am an integral part of an exciting journey. I am constantly challenged to come up with interesting and engaging ways to introduce, promote and demonstrate the concept of Envirobank to audiences across Australia.

"I bounce out of bed everyday knowing that what I do will make a difference, not only to the environment, but also to change behaviour and attitudes in a positive way."

Rodney Anscombe - Operations Manager

"Seeing my contribution make a real difference"

rodneyBorn: in our hometown of Sydney.
Likes: surfing, being near the ocean and being a devoted father.

"When I was given the opportunity to work at Envirobank I was enthused about working with a young, energetic company with a real focus on helping the environment. The recycling program really appealed to me and I knew I would enjoy seeing it grow.

"As the Operations Manager, I look after the day to day operations for the Envirobank network. My focus is to meet the Client's needs and ensure every site runs smoothly.

"What inspires me is making sure our clients are well looked after and doing my part to ensure we as a community are reducing landfill and generally helping the environment."

Christie Bennett - Jnr Graphic Designer/Marketing Assistant

"Part of the team, striving to make a difference"

christieBorn: in the faraway city Harare, Zimbabwe.
Likes: chocolate and coffee, yoga and things of great design.
Dislikes: gnocchi and olives.

"I joined the team at Envirobank because it was an opportunity to make a difference. It's rewarding to make a positive impact on our environment, whilst having fun and giving out prizes!

"My area of expertise is in design. So in between my tertiary study, I work for Envirobank creating and designing much of the promotional material, as well as assisting others in the team with admin support, brainstorming and whatever needs doing to keep the cogs rolling.

"Each day when I head into work, I feel inspired to do a great job, knowing that my work will assist Envirobank on its journey."

Jay Cooper - IT Consultant

"Technology has the ability to enrich our lives in many amazing ways"

jayBorn: on the glittering Gold Coast of East Coast Australia.
Likes: Thai food, snow skiing and home renovations.
Dislikes: traffic!

"I joined Narelle at Envirobank, having worked with her previously at CBD Enviro Services. My role at Envirobank is to ensure the day to day IT operations are working well, which encompasses internal systems, plus developing new programs that will add to the user experience on the Envirobank machines.

"I believe for technology to truly integrate with our lives, it should adapt to the needs of the user rather than the user adapting to the needs of technology."

Caroline Southwell - Engagement Officer

"Changing the world through educating others"

carolineBorn: Sydney.
Likes: being outdoors, working with people and long-distance trail running.
Dislikes: ignorance, discrimination, greed, waste and laziness.

"I joined Envirobank for the opportunity to connect, engage and educate the general public about the importance of recycling and doing it properly. Like Narelle, I get extremely frustrated when I see the amount of waste that is occuring in public places and was excited when I realised there was a way I could contribute to making a lasting change in regards to this issue.

"As the Education and Engagement Officer, I work onsite at events, in workplaces and at locations such as shopping centres, universities etc. Anywhere the module education unit can go, I'll go with it!

"I love nothing more than connecting with people, wherever they're at, and helping them to understand the importance of what we're doing."

“The launch of our new Envirobank on the opening day of our ‘Green It We Mean It’ expo was a great success. The sight of a new and interesting looking machine certainly generated some interest, especially from young children. Mums were lifting their children up to the machine to insert a bottle!

It is our endeavour now to continue to train our customers into becoming accustomed to think of their empty cans and bottles not as rubbish — but as tokens!”
