Now it’s easy to go a little bit green in Queensland thanks to 7-Eleven

Envirobank have just rolled out another of our hugely popular Envirobank reverse vending machines at the 7-Eleven store in Murrumba Downs, QLD. The newly installed Envirobank machine compliments those launched in July at 7-Eleven stores in Kensington South, NSW and Brandon Park, VIC.

Just two months into the initiative 7-Eleven customers have recycled over 3,500 containers and the energy saved so far is the equivalent of that needed to light a 60w bulb for 20,000* hours - or to put it another way, enough energy has been saved to light a 60w bulb for eight hours a day for almost seven years.

Customers have also walked away with over 180 Slurpee upgrades, 300 Boost Bars and over 200 Munch donuts for simply popping an empty drink container in the Envirobank machine.

We are sure customers in Queensland will love the convenience of the machine - once the item is placed in the slot, people just have to press the green button – it’s as simple as that. It’s a perfect opportunity next time you pop in for milk or fill up with fuel at 7-Eleven to get rid of that empty soft drink can or plastic bottle that’s been rolling around in the bottom of your car and be rewarded.

“The launch of our new Envirobank on the opening day of our ‘Green It We Mean It’ expo was a great success. The sight of a new and interesting looking machine certainly generated some interest, especially from young children. Mums were lifting their children up to the machine to insert a bottle!

It is our endeavour now to continue to train our customers into becoming accustomed to think of their empty cans and bottles not as rubbish — but as tokens!”
